Oliver: Hey Clara, do you usually do something fun after work, or do you
just collapse on the sofa like I do? Clara: It depends on the day, but I try to save some energy for my
hobbies.
Oliver: Oh, nice, what kind of hobbies are you into? Clara: My main ones are painting and yoga, they help me relax and forget
about work.
Oliver: Painting sounds cool, how often do you paint during the week? Clara: I usually paint two or three evenings a week, even if it’s just
for half an hour.
Oliver: Do you paint people, landscapes, or more abstract things? Clara: Mostly landscapes and city scenes, I like to paint places I’ve
visited.
Oliver: That’s really nice, it’s like keeping a visual diary. Clara: Exactly, every painting reminds me of a walk, a trip or a moment.
Oliver: And you mentioned yoga, do you go to a class or practice at home? Clara: I go to a small studio near my house twice a week, and sometimes I
do short videos at home.
Oliver: I’ve never tried yoga, why do you enjoy it so much? Clara: It helps with my back pain and it also calms my mind, I sleep much
better on yoga days.
Oliver: Sounds like I should try it, my back is always complaining after
sitting all day. Clara: You definitely should, there are some really good beginner
classes.
Oliver: As for me, my main hobby is playing the guitar. Clara: Oh, that’s great, how long have you been playing?
Oliver: I’ve played for about five years now, but seriously only in the
last two. Clara: Do you play in a band or just at home for fun?
Oliver: Just at home, mostly for fun, I play rock and a bit of blues. Clara: That must be a great way to disconnect after a stressful day.
Oliver: It really is, I usually play for an hour in the evening, it’s
like my little therapy. Clara: I love that, everyone needs something that helps them switch off.
Oliver: At weekends I also like going for long walks or small hikes
outside the city. Clara: Same here, I try to go for a long walk on Sunday mornings if the
weather is nice.
Oliver: Why do you enjoy walking so much, is it for exercise or just to
clear your head? Clara: A bit of both, I like moving my body, but I also enjoy being
outside and listening to music or podcasts.
Oliver: Do you listen to music when you paint too? Clara: Yes, I usually put on some calm music or jazz, it helps me
concentrate.
Oliver: Apart from guitar, I’m also into cooking, especially on weekends. Clara: Really, what do you like to cook?
Oliver: I like trying new recipes, especially pasta dishes and different
kinds of curry. Clara: That sounds delicious, do you cook just for yourself or for
friends too?
Oliver: Sometimes I invite friends over for dinner, it’s fun to cook for
other people. Clara: I wish I had that hobby, I cook more out of necessity than for
pleasure.
Oliver: Maybe you just need one or two simple recipes that you really
enjoy making. Clara: You’re right, if I had one “special dish” I might feel more
motivated.
Oliver: So, how much time do you think you spend on hobbies in a normal
week? Clara: Maybe six or seven hours in total, it depends on how tired I am.
Oliver: That’s pretty good, I think I spend a similar amount between
guitar, walking and cooking. Clara: It’s nice to realise that we do have lives outside of work.
Oliver: Definitely, I feel weird when a whole week passes and I haven’t
touched my guitar. Clara: I feel the same if I don’t paint at all, I get a bit grumpy.
Oliver: Do you have any hobby you’d like to try in the future? Clara: Yes, I’d love to learn photography properly, not just with my
phone.
Oliver: That would go well with your walks and trips, you could take
photos and then paint them. Clara: Exactly, that’s my secret plan, turn my free time into a little
creative circle.

“I’m into photography”, “I play in a band”, “I paint landscapes.”
much better”, “little therapy”, “helps me switch off”,
“clear my head”.
Frases como “collapse on the sofa”, “my back is always complaining”,
“I cook more out of necessity than for pleasure” muestran una forma
Frases como “It’s nice to realise that we do have lives outside of work.”
