Comprar ropa en una tienda
Sophie: Hi there, can I help you with anything today?
Daniel: Hi, yes please, I’m looking for a pair of jeans and a casual
shirt.
Sophie: Great, do you have any particular style or size in mind?
Daniel: For jeans I usually wear a slim fit, and for shirts I’m normally
a medium.
Sophie: Okay, our slim fit jeans are on this rack here, and the shirts
are just behind you.
Daniel: Perfect, I’d like something I can wear to the office but also at
the weekend.
Sophie: What color are you thinking of for the jeans, dark or light?
Daniel: I prefer dark blue jeans, and maybe a light-colored shirt to go
with them.
Sophie: These jeans are slim fit, dark wash, and very popular this
season.
Daniel: They look nice, what waist size is this pair?
Sophie: That one is a 32 waist with a regular length.
Daniel: That should be fine, 32 is my usual size, I’ll try them.
Sophie: And for the shirt, do you like plain, striped or checked
patterns?
Daniel: I think I’d like something plain, maybe light blue or white.
Sophie: This light blue shirt is a regular fit, and I also have the same
model in white.
Daniel: Could I try both colors in medium, please?
Sophie: Of course, I’ll grab a medium in blue and a medium in white for
you.
Daniel: Thanks, where are the fitting rooms?
Sophie: The fitting rooms are just over there on the left.
Daniel: Great, I’ll go and try on the jeans and the shirts.
Sophie: Take your time, and if you need a different size, just let me
know.
Daniel: Thanks, I’ll call you if the fit is not right.
Daniel: Excuse me, Sophie, the jeans fit well at the waist, but they’re a
bit long.
Sophie: No problem, we have the same jeans in a shorter length, would you
like to try that?
Daniel: Yes please, a shorter length would be better.
Sophie: I’ll bring you a 32 short, it should be a nicer length for you.
Daniel: And about the shirts, the medium blue is a bit tight around the
shoulders.
Sophie: In that case, you could try a large in the same style, the cut is
quite slim.
Daniel: Okay, I’ll try the large blue shirt, the white medium was fine.
Sophie: I’ll bring you the large blue, and you can compare both sizes in
the mirror.
Daniel: The new jeans length is much better, and the large shirt feels
more comfortable.
Sophie: Yes, that size looks great on you, the color suits you very well.
Daniel: How much are the jeans and the shirt?
Sophie: The jeans are 45 euros, and the shirt is 29.90, but today the
shirts are 20% off.
Daniel: That’s good, I think I’ll take the jeans and the blue shirt.
Sophie: Would you like to keep the white shirt as well, or just the blue
one?
Daniel: Just the blue one for today, I don’t want to spend too much.
Sophie: No problem, I’ll put the white shirt back and take these to the
till.
Daniel: Before we pay, could you tell me about your returns policy?
Sophie: Sure, you can return or exchange unworn items within 30 days with
the receipt.
Daniel: And if the size is not right when I try them again at home, can I
change them?
Sophie: Yes, you can change the size or even choose a different model, as
long as the tags are still on.
Daniel: That’s great, thank you, it makes me feel more relaxed about the
purchase.
Sophie: You’re welcome, would you like to pay by card or in cash?
Daniel: By card, please.
Sophie: Alright, you can insert your card here and enter your PIN.
Daniel: Done, could I have a bag for the clothes, please?
Sophie: Of course, here you are, I’ve put the receipt inside in case you
need to return anything.
Daniel: Thank you very much for your help, you’ve been really kind.
Sophie: You’re welcome, have a great day and enjoy your new outfit!
Daniel: Thanks, I will, see you next time.
Sophie: Bye, hope to see you again soon.

EXPRESIONES TÍPICAS Y LENGUAJE DE COMPRA
Inicio y oferta de ayuda:
El dependiente usa “Can I help you with anything today?” y el cliente
responde “Yes please, I’m looking for…”. La estructura I’m looking
for…
“Do you have any particular style or size in mind?” pregunta por
preferencias.
El cliente contesta con algo muy natural: “I’d like something I can wear to
the office but also at the weekend.” Aquí I’d like suaviza el deseo;
suena educado.
Elegir color y estampado:
“What color are you thinking of…?” es una pregunta muy típica.
Respuestas útiles: “I prefer dark blue jeans”, “I’d like something
plain, maybe light blue or white.”
Probarse ropa:
“Where are the fitting rooms?” para preguntar por los probadores.
“I’ll go and try on the jeans and the shirts.” Aquí el phrasal verb
es try on (probarse ropa).
Hablar del ajuste de la prenda:
“The jeans fit well at the waist, but they’re a bit long.”
“The medium is a bit tight around the shoulders.”
Palabras clave: fit well, too tight, too loose, too long,
too short, more comfortable.
Decidir la compra:
“I think I’ll take the jeans and the blue shirt.”
“Just the blue one for today, I don’t want to spend too much.”
I’ll take… es la fórmula estándar para “me llevo…”.
Devoluciones:
“Could you tell me about your returns policy?”
“You can return or exchange unworn items within 30 days with the receipt.”
“As long as the tags are still on.”
“Our slim fit jeans are on this rack here.”
“This light blue shirt is a regular fit.”
“The jeans are 45 euros and the shirt is 29.90.”
“I’ll take three of these blue ones.”
“I’ll try the large blue shirt.”
“I’ll pay by card, please.”
Este will indica decisión espontánea, típica en compras.
Uso de WOULD LIKE para sonar más cortés
“I’d like something I can wear to the office.”
“Would you like to keep the white shirt as well?”
I’d like / would you like suenan más suaves y educados que I want / do
you want.
Condiciones con “as long as”
“You can change the size as long as the tags are still on.”
As long as marca una condición: mientras se cumpla X, puedes hacer Y.
DIFERENCIAS IDIOMÁTICAS Y CULTURALES
Cortesía constante
Se usan mucho please, thank you, you’re welcome:
“Yes please, I’m looking for…”,
“Could I try both colors, please?”,
“Thank you very much for your help, you’ve been really kind.”
La dependienta dice “That size looks great on you, the color suits you very
well.”.
Practica decir:
“Hi, I’m looking for a pair of jeans and a shirt.”
“I usually wear a medium.”
“Do you have this in a larger size?”
Para hablar de ajuste y comodidad
Ten listas expresiones como:
“It fits well at the waist, but it’s a bit tight here.”
“They’re a bit long / too short.”
“This one feels more comfortable.”
Para usar los probadores
Frases muy útiles:
“Where are the fitting rooms?”
“Can I try this on?”
“Could I try this in a different size, please?”
Para devoluciones y cambios
No hace falta complicarse:
“What’s your returns policy?”
“If the size is not right, can I change it?”
“Can I exchange this for a different size?”
Para decidir y pagar
Usa estructuras simples:
“I’ll take this one and this one.”
“How much are they together?”
“Can I pay by card?”
“Could I have a bag, please?”
Saber nombrar tallas, cortes y colores básicos: slim fit, regular fit,
medium, large, dark blue, plain shirt, checked shirt.
Controlar expresiones de probador y ajuste: “Where are the fitting rooms?”,
“It’s too tight / too long / more comfortable.”
Y manejar unas pocas frases de compra y devolución: “I’ll take it”,
“What’s your returns policy?”, “Can I exchange it if the size is not
right?”.
