En el diálogo aparece un inglés muy típico para ir de compras de ropa, mezclando vocabulario de moda y expresiones de tienda.

Vocabulario de prendas y estilo: aparecen palabras como jeans, casual shirt, slim fit, regular fit, dark wash, light-colored shirt, plain, striped, checked patterns.
– Slim fit es corte más ajustado.
– Regular fit es corte normal.
– Dark wash son vaqueros de color oscuro (lavado oscuro).
– Plain significa liso, sin estampado; striped = de rayas; checked = de cuadros.

Vocabulario de tallas y medidas: size, waist size, 32 waist, regular length, shorter length, medium, large. Es muy típico decir “I’m normally a medium” o “I usually wear a 32 waist”.

Vocabulario de tienda y compra: rack (perchero), fitting rooms (probadores), till (caja), returns policy, unworn items, tags, receipt, bag, outfit (conjunto).

Se usa para descripciones y hechos:

Son hechos generales, por eso el presente simple es el tiempo natural.

Uso de WILL para decisiones en el momento
El cliente decide sobre la marcha:
“I’ll take three of these blue ones.”
“I’ll try the large blue shirt.”
“I’ll pay by card, please.”
Este will indica decisión espontánea, típica en compras.

Uso de WOULD LIKE para sonar más cortés
“I’d like something I can wear to the office.”
“Would you like to keep the white shirt as well?”
I’d like / would you like suenan más suaves y educados que I want / do you want.

Adjetivos de ropa en orden natural
En inglés el orden suele ser: opinión – tamaño – forma – color – material – prenda. Aquí vemos cosas como “dark blue jeans”, “light-colored shirt”, “plain white shirt” (implícita). Pon primero el color (dark blue) y luego la prenda (jeans), no al revés.

Condiciones con “as long as”
“You can change the size as long as the tags are still on.”
As long as marca una condición: mientras se cumpla X, puedes hacer Y.

La política de 30 days y poder return or exchange es muy típica en muchas tiendas de ropa de países anglosajones. En español a veces no es tan flexible, de modo que preguntar por la returns policy es una costumbre más arraigada fuera.

Comentarios sobre el aspecto
La dependienta dice “That size looks great on you, the color suits you very well.”. Es normal que el personal de tienda haga pequeños cumplidos sobre cómo te queda la ropa; forma parte de la interacción y del servicio, sin implicar demasiada intimidad.

Claridad en tallas y cortes
Es importante hablar de fit (slim, regular) y de tallas (medium, large, 32 waist). En entornos anglófonos se espera que el cliente sepa más o menos su talla en letras o números, y la conversación gira mucho en torno a esto.
