THE SCHOOL
The school is part of an attractive stone village called Kings
Cliffe, which is situated 50 miles west of Cambridge and 90 miles north of London. The premises consist of a large house (in the photo) an inviting garden, where the students can relax during non-class time, and a converted barn which is also used as a an art school.
Lessons will take place in a classroom within the barn, where food and refreshments will be served either in the house or garden depending on the weather.
THE TEACHER
The teacher is currently employed by the British Council in Spain where he has been working for the last seven years.
THE COURSE
The course is specifically aimed at students who are planning to take the First Certificate exam in
December and who feel that they need to visit England during the summer to immerse themselves in the language.
It will take place over a period of two weeks and will consist of 50 hours teaching time, in which equal importance will be given to the four skills;
writing, listening, speaking and
reading.
There will also be special sessions on grammar and
vocabulary. Furthermore, students will have access to (on-line) computers on which helpful grammar and vocabulary exercises will be available. A maximum of eight people will attend the course.
ACCOMMODATION
Students will be accommodated in host families within the village.
FOOD
The host family will be responsible for breakfast and dinner, and lunch will be provided by the school.
FREE TIME
Free time activities include walking in the surrounding countryside, playing tennis and table tennis, and painting.
Barbeques and excursions to the theatre, cinema and pubs in the surrounding towns will also be arranged.
THE PRICE
The price of £550 ( 797 euros) includes teaching, materials, accommodation and food.
HOW TO GET TO KING’S CLIFFE
- By train – London (King’s Cross) to Peterborough (about one hour).
- By bus – London (Victoria) to Peterborough (about two hours).
- We will meet people arriving by train or bus in Peterborough.
